What it is

What a
single dental implant consists of

A single dental implant is the most advanced solution for replacing a single missing tooth. Unlike a traditional bridge, it does not need support from or to wear down healthy neighbouring teeth: the implant is anchored directly into the bone, replicating the exact function of the natural root of the missing tooth. It is the only solution that replaces the tooth from the root, not just the visible part.

The ceramic crown placed on the implant is custom-made using a digital scanner: same colour, same size, same morphology as the adjacent tooth. The result is so natural that even patients themselves cannot remember which tooth is the implant. Chewing, phonetics and tactile sensation are identical to a natural tooth.

Leaving a missing tooth untreated starts a chain of consequences: the bone in the area begins to resorb within weeks, neighbouring teeth migrate towards the empty space and the bite is progressively compromised. Acting within the first few months simplifies treatment and preserves the available bone capital.

Types / options

Single implant or bridge,
which is best for you?

01

Single dental implant

Does not require touching or trimming healthy neighbouring teeth. It is anchored directly into the bone, preserving and stimulating it. Average lifespan of over 20 years with proper maintenance. The closest solution to a natural tooth available today.

02

Dental bridge

Requires shaping and trimming the two neighbouring teeth to create support pillars, even if they are completely healthy. It does not preserve the bone under the missing tooth, which progressively resorbs. Average lifespan of 10-15 years.

Digital planning with surgical guide

Virtual design of the exact implant position: angulation, depth and relationship with the nerve and neighbouring teeth. We manufacture a custom surgical template. The patient can see the predicted result before the procedure.

/ 03

Implant placement

Outpatient surgery lasting 30-45 minutes under local anaesthetic. We offer conscious sedation for patients with dental anxiety. Minimally invasive with a guided template. If the missing tooth space is visible, an aesthetic provisional crown is placed. Discharge on the same day.

/ 04

Osseointegration (2-3 months)

The titanium biologically fuses with the bone. During this period, you wear a functional provisional crown if applicable. We perform follow-up check-ups included in the treatment.

/ 05

Final crown

Precision digital scanner to manufacture the custom ceramic crown: same colour, shape and size as the adjacent tooth. Permanent result indistinguishable from a natural tooth.

What our patients say

Frequently asked questions about single dental implants

No, and this is its main advantage over a dental bridge. The implant is anchored directly into the bone without touching or affecting adjacent teeth. A traditional bridge, however, requires shaping and trimming the two neighbouring teeth. With an implant, your healthy teeth remain completely intact.

Between 3 and 5 months in standard cases. The longest phase is osseointegration (2-3 months), during which the titanium fuses with the bone. If the tooth to be replaced is in a visible area, a provisional crown can be placed from day one.

The surgery is performed under local anaesthetic and is virtually painless. It lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. Post-operative discomfort is mild and can be managed with standard painkillers for 2-3 days. We offer conscious sedation for patients with dental anxiety.

With proper maintenance (daily hygiene, annual check-ups and avoiding heavy smoking), between 20 and 25 years, or even indefinitely. Long-term studies show survival rates exceeding 95% after 15 years. It is the most durable solution for replacing a missing tooth.

Visually, no. The ceramic crown is custom-made: same colour, same size, same shape as the adjacent tooth. Functionally, no either: chewing, phonetics and tactile sensation are identical to a natural tooth. It is common for patients themselves to forget which one is the implant after a few months.

Yes, although the more time that has passed, the greater the bone loss in the area may be. If the 3D CT scan detects significant resorption, we can perform prior guided bone regeneration. The free first visit allows us to evaluate this with no obligation.
