What it is

What
dental veneers consist of

Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite that are bonded to the visible surface of the teeth to correct their shape, colour, size, or position. They are dentistry’s most versatile aesthetic solution: they can transform an entire smile in two or three visits, correcting stubborn stains, chipped teeth, wear, short teeth, or slight crowding that does not require orthodontics.

At Alldent Benalmádena, smile design begins with a full facial and dental analysis: we study the proportion of the teeth in relation to the face, skin tone, smile line, and patient preferences. With the 3D intraoral scanner, we digitally design the smile before touching any teeth: the patient sees and approves the planned result before any veneer is manufactured.

Veneers are one of the most requested options by patients in Benalmádena and the Costa del Sol looking to improve the aesthetics of their smile without resorting to invasive treatments. With correct maintenance, porcelain veneers last between 10 and 20 years. Composite ones are a more affordable and reversible alternative with excellent results in selected cases.

Types of dental veneers
at Alldent

The choice of veneer type depends on the aesthetic goal, the patient’s budget, and the characteristics of each case. The free digital diagnosis determines the most suitable option.

01

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are the gold standard in smile design. They are manufactured in a high-tech dental laboratory from a digital scan. They perfectly replicate the appearance of a natural tooth: the same translucency, shine, and light response as real enamel. Average lifespan of 15-20 years with proper maintenance.

02

Composite veneers (resin)

Composite veneers are applied directly to the tooth during the same visit, without laboratory manufacturing or enamel preparation. They are more affordable and completely reversible. Indicated for specific corrections: closing gaps, repairing small fractures, or localised colour changes. Average lifespan of 5-8 years.

03

Full smile design

When the goal is to comprehensively transform the smile, we combine veneers with other treatments: prior whitening, orthodontics if there are positioning issues, or crowns on back teeth. The prior digital design allows the full result to be visualised before starting and adjusted until the patient is completely satisfied.

/ 01

First visit · Free diagnosis and digital design

Full facial and dental analysis, 3D intraoral scanner, clinical photographs, and smile line study. Digital design of the planned result. No cost or obligation.

/ 02

Design approval and provisional mock-up

We present the digital design of the new smile. In many cases, we also create a composite mock-up so you can physically ‘try on’ your new smile before any preparation. The treatment only proceeds when you are completely happy with the result.

/ 03

Tooth preparation (porcelain veneers only)

Minimal enamel preparation (0.3-0.7 mm) to create the necessary space for the veneer. With current techniques, the preparation is very conservative and in many cases can be done without anaesthesia. Provisional veneers are placed while the laboratory manufactures the final ones.

/ 04

Dental laboratory manufacturing

Porcelain veneers are manufactured in a high-precision laboratory from the digital scan. Usual timeframe: 7-14 days. During this time, you wear provisional veneers that are fully functional and aesthetic.

/ 05

Placement and final adjustment

Bonding of the final veneers with high-strength cement. Adjustment of colour, shape, and bite. Polishing and delivery. Visible result from the very first moment: a final smile without the wait.

What our patients say

Frequently asked questions about dental veneers in Benalmádena

It depends on the aesthetic goal. The most common approach is to treat the 6-8 visible teeth of the front smile. In full smile designs, up to 10-12 teeth may be included. The prior digital design shows exactly how many teeth are necessary to achieve the desired result.

Porcelain veneers require a very fine preparation of the enamel (0.3-0.7 mm), which is irreversible but conservative. Composite ones do not require any preparation and are completely reversible. In both cases, the tooth remains covered and protected. The decision on which type to use depends on the specific case.

Porcelain veneers last between 10 and 20 years with proper maintenance. Composite ones have a lifespan of 5-8 years. In both cases, factors such as hygiene, avoiding biting hard objects, using a night guard if there is bruxism, and regular check-ups play a role.

Not if they are well-designed. High-quality porcelain veneers have the same translucency and light response as natural enamel. The prior digital design ensures that the colour and shape are in harmony with the face. At Alldent, the result always aims for naturalness, not a ‘too white’ or artificial appearance.

In cases of slight crowding or minor rotations, veneers can correct the appearance without orthodontics. For more significant malocclusions, it is recommended to undergo orthodontics first, so that the veneers last and function correctly in the long term. The free diagnosis determines the correct order for your case.

No. Porcelain is a non-porous material that is completely resistant to coffee, wine, tobacco, and pigmented foods. Composite veneers can stain slightly over time, especially with high consumption of pigmented foods.
